Frame Sudoku Puzzle is a very interesting Mathematical Sudoku variation. X Sum Frame Sudoku Puzzle is an extension of the Frame Sudoku Puzzle type. In the Frame Sudoku Puzzles, the sum of the first three numbers from the edge is given. However, in the X Sum Frame Sudoku sum is marked with X and it is part of solving process to get the value of X and then solve the Sudoku puzzle. This Sudoku type appeared in Episode 7 of Sudoku Mahabharat 2016. X Sum Frame Sudoku is created by Harmeet Singh.
This X Sum Frame Sudoku puzzle I created for World Sudoku Championships (WSC) 2017. However this Sudoku type could not fit into any WSC round, so this puzzle remained unused. This is a very interesting Sudoku type and I am posting this X Sum Frame Sudoku as part of Daily Sudoku League as the 211th Sudoku Puzzle in this Series.

Rules of X Sum Frame Sudoku Puzzle
Standard Sudoku Rules apply. Additionally, The letter 'X' indicates the sum of the first three numbers appearing in the first box in that particular row/ column seen from that direction. X is to be determined as part of solving. All rows/columns, where the sum is X, are marked. If there is no X marked for a row/column, the sum cannot be X.

Nice. 10.45 on this. However the name is confusing. It should probably not be called X-sums as it confuses with the variant by the same name.

Regarding the name, this Sudoku type appeared with name X Sum Frame Sudoku in Sudoku Mahabharat 2016 Episode 7. So I don't want to change the name to give credit to original creators of this Sudoku type. Interesting you are one of the co-author of Episode 7 of SM 2016 in which first time I saw this Sudoku type.
